Λεξούλα

Λεξούλα

[λε-ξού-λα] /lɛˈksu.la/ noun, feminine

  1. from λέξη, “word”, with the affectionate ending -ούλα: a little word.
  2. An app that turns the vocabulary of each Greek lesson into a few minutes of review a day, in your own language.

Open to the students of a class, with the code from their teacher. Works on iPhone, Android and computer.

Each morning, a short session is ready: words due for review and the new words of the last lesson.

  2. Mostly multiple choice: quick to answer, even on the bus.
  3. In fill-in-the-blank sentences, every option has the same tense, gender and case. Only the meaning tells them apart.
  4. The words of each lesson, Greek and translation side by side. Star the ones that resist: they come back more often.
  5. Short and long texts written with the words of your lessons. Tap a word to see its meaning.
  6. Progress word by word, and a streak to keep going.

How it works

  1. α΄

The teacher adds the words of the lesson

A simple list, pasted after class. Words Λεξούλα already knows are ready at once.

  2. β΄

    The AI prepares everything

Translations into eight languages, example sentences, notes, exercises and reading texts, within minutes.

  3. γ΄

Students review a little every day

Spaced repetition brings each word back just before it would be forgotten.

What's inside

Spaced repetition
Each word comes back after 1, 3, 7, 14, 30, then 60 days, sooner if you get it wrong.
Forms, not just meanings
Aorists, feminine and neuter forms, agreement: there are grammar exercises too. Accents count.
Notes that help memory
Etymology, word families and false friends for each word.
Texts at the level of the class
Quick reads during the week and a longer text on Sunday, from A1 to C2, on varied themes.
Hear every word
Greek pronunciation of words, sentences and texts.
In your language
Interface and translations in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Polish and Turkish.
Installs like an app
Add it to your home screen from the browser, without going through a store.
No ads, no tracking
Progress is shared with the teacher by default; each student can turn this off at any time.

  • Add the words of a lesson in a few seconds.
  • See how each student is doing and which words the class finds hardest.
  • Ask for a new text whenever you like.

Στέφανος

Greek teacher based in Cyprus. His lessons and word lists are the heart of the app.

Φοίβος

A student in Stefanos's B2 class. He designed and built Λεξούλα to learn the words of each lesson for good.

Behind the scenes

Λεξούλα is built to run on its own: no server to look after, a new version online with every change, and an AI that works in the background while everyone sleeps.

Two days from the idea to the first version online. Eight languages. No server to maintain.

  • Each student sees only their own progress and the content of their classes: the rule is enforced by the database itself (row-level security).
  • A shared dictionary: a word prepared once serves every class.
  • Exercises built for Greek: distractors that agree in gender, case and tense, and accents that are checked.
  • Plain JavaScript with no framework, so the app stays small and fast. Every change is deployed automatically.
